Forgery & Co.
Forgery & Co. is a tiny art forgery game.
Some people have talents in science, others in business, and your talent just happens to be an artistic talent for making forgeries. You have taken the leap into starting your own art gallery and are taking on commissions from collectors looking for their own copies of famous masterpieces. Take on projects of your choice, copying paintings square by square, and hang your forgeries in your gallery as on loan mementos of your work. Earn enough to renovate your Back-Alley Studio into a Famous Art House.
Steer your brush with the arrow keys or WASD. The brush will continue endlessly in a straight line one way without your direction. Switch paint color using the number keys. Each square your brush passes over will be painted the current color regardless of what it was painted beforehand.

HOW I USED DREAMLAYER
----------------------------------------
DreamLayer is part of the art at every step:
- The "originals": every commission is a DreamLayer reimagining of a famous painting, each with one deliberate mistake (see if you can spot them). The game turns each one into the pixel grid you copy.
- The gallery: the starter studio was generated with DreamLayer, then each renovation was made with DreamLayer image edits of the previous room (new floor and spotlights, then white walls and gold frames).
- The decor: the busts, sculpture, plants and bench in the final room were generated and cut out with DreamLayer.
- The forger: the character's four outfits, from ragged hoodie to tuxedo, were made with DreamLayer, one generation and three edits of the same character, then cut out.
The picture frames were redrawn as squares in code so every forgery fits its frame, and everything was then pixelated and assembled in the browser game.
Made for the DreamLayer Game Jam.
